This year will be the first year for Jessica Webb Photography holiday cards. I’ve been wanting to do this every year, but when the holidays came around I was too busy with a bambino. With things being slower in 2020 I’ve had the opportunity to slow down and spend more time with my family and really sit down and focus on some of the aspects of the business that I’d like to expand. One of my musts for this year was getting the holiday cards out.
I selected the photo of the Anemone that I took this year. I’ve always loved flowers, but when the pandemic hit and I couldn’t take photos of people I really focused on the things that surrounded me in Maine. I was fortunate enough to meet Michelle from Petalage Florals. She invited me into her studio and I got to hand pick some flowers that spoke to me.
This image is made up of 5 plates that are stitched together to get the right level of dew, light, and shadow on the flower that I was trying to achieve.
I then had the image sent to Maine Photo Works in South Portland, where I was helped by Regan who did a lovely job of walking me through their printing process as well as their paper options. I chose to get samples to ensure I achieved the look I was going for and then moved onto printing. They offer a 15% discount when you order 20 or more prints!.
The rest of the process was getting the right paper, envelopes, and handwriting messages to everyone on this year’s list. This is a limited edition print and each print is signed, numbered, and dated.
I’ve so enjoyed the process and I’m already scheming up next year’s photo.
