Artist Statement

The last trip my family and I took was to Portugal. We had a lovely time exploring Portuguese streets and wandering vineyards. A week after our return everything shut down here in Maine. The photos I took in Portugal were taken before COVID changed the world and I look back at them in fondness and hope for the future.

As my plans for the year professionally and personally dissolved I started to create, focusing on my surroundings here in Maine. Flowers have always been a source of comfort and wonder for me and as spring approached here in Maine I honed in on them aiming to capture them in all their beauty. I photographed flowers from local florists or from my own backyard, truly focusing on what Maine offers.

I picked 10 photographic works for limited editions printed in South Portland by Maine Photo works on Hot Press Bright paper.
